The Artist

Born in Academgorodok of Novosibirsk, Russia, currently creating in Maryland, USA.

Karolina Zakharova is a classically trained artist working within the tradition of figurative art. She studied at Grand Central Atelier in New York and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Novosibirsk, Siberia. Karolina's practice is centered on working from life, primarily in oil painting. Through direct observation, she studies form, light, and structure, using traditional studio methods to translate three-dimensional reality onto a two-dimensional surface. Karolina is deeply inspired by nature, animals, and people, and spends much of her time observing the natural world. In her work, she is especially drawn to color and form of nature, finding challenge and enjoyment in the process of painting from life. Currently based in Maryland, Karolina continues to develop her practice and participate in exhibitions.
